Monday morning in Lafayette County a burglary at the Emma Co-op led to a high speed chase into Johnson County. The suspect bailed from the vehicle and was pursued on foot for some time before he stole another vehicle. Some reports state a female was in that vehicle at the time it was taken, she later escaped unharmed, however so did the suspect.

Authorities in Bates County reportedly arrested the suspect a short time later. He is identified as 30-year-old Robert Francis Douglas of Appleton City. He was wanted for questioning for other alleged crimes in Johnson, Henry, Cass and Lafayette Counties.

The Bates County Court Clerk reports that Douglas now faces charges of felony resisting arrest, felony attempted assault of a law enforcement officer and felony property damage. He was arraigned Wednesday and awaits a pre-trial conference on October 3rd at 9 a.m. He’s being held on $40-thousand bond.
