A murder case moves closer to trial and two other area cases revolving around theft and drugs will be heard Wednesday in three different venues.

Murder and felony assault charges were filed back in March in the death of Warrensburg resident, Aaron Markarian, 23. A defendant in the case, Alonzo Ruff, 20, of Kansas City, is charged with second degree murder, five counts of armed criminal action, one count of first degree robbery and three counts of first degree assault. Ruff will go before a judge for a pre-trial hearing at 8:30 a.m. in a Kansas City Courtroom. Co-defendant Anthony Williams, 21, is in the middle of a motion request to reduce bond, there is no current court date set.

Nathan Beagley, 33, of Richmond has been charged with one count of burglary and three counts of theft/stealing. He was arrested after sheriff’s deputies searched his residence in March and allegedly found stolen goods from seven different properties. He will appear for arraignment in a Ray County courtroom at 8:30 a.m.

Two men arrested during police raids on the Smellgoodz stores in Macon and Brookfield will be in Macon County court Wednesday for a case review. Stephen Wright, 33, and Travis Lovett, 32, both of Macon, are charged with delivery or manufacturing of an imitation controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and promoting the sale of an imitation controlled substance. They are both scheduled to appear in court at 10 a.m.
