COLUMBIA — Local FFA chapters along with three agriculture educators were recognized by the Missouri FFA Association at the 91st Missouri FFA State Convention in Columbia.

Awards are presented to students, chapters and educators that actively participate in providing opportunities for FFA members to learn about the agriculture industry, improve leadership skills and continue to grow the FFA organization as a whole.

Several FFA chapters from the KMZU listening area were presented with the Top Chapter Award:

  • Boonville FFA
  • Braymer FFA
  • Bucklin FFA
  • Carrollton ACC FFA
  • Chillicothe FFA
  • Marshall FFA
  • New Franklin R-1 FFA
  • Sweet Springs FFA

This award is given to chapters that implement the mission of the FFA organization in their daily operations and continually strengthen their members to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Local administrators and educators also received the Honorary State Degree in recognition of their contributions to the FFA:

  • Carrollton – Brooke Swindler – Agriculture Instructor and FFA Advisor
  • Sedalia – Nancy Bouse – Administrative Assistant – Missouri State Fair
  • Warrensburg – Avery Deevers – Missouri Vocation Agriculture Teachers Association

Honorary State Degrees are given to individuals that contribute to growing the FFA organization and its members. Recipients may work directly or indirectly with FFA students, but their time and effort results in an improved agricultural experience.
