JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A number of area libraries have received grants from Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s office for summer reading programs.
Funds ranging from $4,500.00 to just under $8,600.00 were granted to the libraries in order to be used to help engage children 13 years of age or younger during an eight week program.
This year’s theme is Build a Better World and will focus on improving reading skills and engaging learning.
This year the Missouri State Library is distributing more than $715,000.00 to libraries across the state for the program.
Some of the libraries receiving the grants include the Carrollton Public Library, the Marshall Public Library, the Henry County Library and the Polk County Library.
