A Saline County man was in court for a preliminary hearing earlier this week.  Norman Forrester, 53, of Slater faces multiple charges stemming from events that occurred in April of last year.

Court records indicate Forrester has been charged with 3rd degree assault, trespassing on a school bus, and peace disturbance as well as child kidnapping.

According to the probable cause statement, on April 23, 2013, Mr. Forrester boarded a Slater school bus and grabbed a young man and attempted to grab another.  Both of the boys pushed Forrester away and exited the bus.  During the push away, the bus driver, Jim Gochenour, entered the bus and told him he would have to get off the bus. He refused and sat at the back of the bus yelling about “god and the devil.”

Slater Police Chief Keith Wright arrived on scene a short time later.  Upon entering the bus, Chief Wright recognized the suspect as Norman Forrester and told him he would have to exit the bus.  Again Forrester stated he would not and gripped the back of a seat while yelling, “The devil is here.”

After removing the suspect from the bus he continued yelling including the statements, “Jesus is Lord,” “I need a kid,” and “I want to rape and kill a child.”

During proceedings, Forresters’ case was bound over to the circuit court where he will next go before the judge on the 12th of January for arraignment.  He remains behind bars on a $25,000 cash only bond.
