The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has announced they’ve arrested 21 year old Charles T. Key in connection to a homicide that occurred last month. According to a press release from the sheriff, 40 year old Richard A. Bennett of Columbia was stabbed outside his apartment at the Phenora Oaks Complex just north of Columbia.

Authorities arrested 21 year old Charles T. Key and charged him with alleged 2nd degree murder in the death of Bennett who was his neighbor. Key is also facing a charge of armed criminal action in the incident. He is currently incarcerated in the Boone County Jail on a $1 million cash only bond.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with Second Degree Murder in the stabbing death of his neighbor last month on Wilcott Drive in the Phenora Oaks apartment complex north of Columbia.

Charles T. Key, of 1111 E. South Elizabeth St., is being held in the Boone County Jail on $1 million cash-only bond. Key also faces a charge of Armed Criminal Action relating to the incident.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to 6183 West Wilcott Drive shortly after 9:00 p.m. on May 28 and found Richard A. Bennett, 40, lying outside his apartment with stab wounds. Bennett was pronounced dead at University Hospital a short time later.
