arrest 1COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Columbia Police Department has made an arrest in an investigation into reports of indecent exposure at Oakland Middle School.

Officers received the initial report around 2:51 p.m. from district officials Monday afternoon after a suspicious person was seen at Blue Ridge Elementary School. Officers were told the suspect was confronted by security when he was near the playground.

Nearly 45 minutes later, the same suspect was seen entering Oakland Middle School as classes were being dismissed for the day.Video surveillance indicates he entered one of the school bathrooms for several minutes, then left the building. As after school athletic programs were taking place, two male juveniles were approached by the suspect. One of the victims saw the man begin to drop his pants, while the other observed him drop his pants and expose himself. As a school official approached to take the two victims away, the suspect fled on foot.

Oakland Middle School remained in contact with the Columbia Police Department and surrounding schools regarding the suspect. At 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers patrolling the area saw the suspect near 10th St and Broadway. They were able to apprehend him without incident.

Roger Dwayne Paris, 25, of Columbia was taken into custody and charged with Felony Attempted Sexual Misconduct in the First Degree, and two counts of Misdemeanor Trespassing. Paris’ bond was set at $1,000.
