JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – A warrant was filed Tuesday for the arrest of a Holden woman accused of arson.
The case out of Johnson county alleges Kimberly Garcia, 31, knowingly set fire to an apartment complex at 522 North ridgeview Street, May 21 this year. According to a probable cause statement, that was the day Garcia was to be evicted from Apartment D because of a judgement rendered May 7. The statement also indicates Garcia had payed on a renter’s insurance policy worth up to $75,000. Garcia told investigators she was not able to pay a premium that was due eight days after the fire.
She is charged with 1st degree arson. Bond set at $20,000. Future court dates are pending.
