COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Republican nominee for Missouri Attorney General is fighting a lawsuit over an open records request.
Missouri University law professor Josh Hawley filed a motion to dismiss a suit filed by former State Representative Kevin Elmer in May of this year. The lawsuit claims Hawley, The University of Missouri and law school dean Gary Myers withheld emails and phone records by Hawley, before he announced his candidacy for Attorney General.
Hawley claims the Sunshine Law applies only to the Board of Curators, a public governmental body, and not the University itself.
