One of the three people accused of kidnapping and killing a young Ray County woman will appear in court on Wednesday.Erik Zimmerman, now 31, of Excelsior Springs, is scheduled to go on trial this month for the death of Carol Thomas, 23.  Zimmerman is expected to face a jury on Apr. 16.  His pre-trial conference gets underway Wednesday, Apr. 4 at 3:00 p.m.Court documents allege Zimmerman, James Reardon, 25, and Jennifer Saling, 23, kidnapped and killed Thomas in November 2009. She was found in a burned car in rural Lawson.Zimmerman confessed to police that he was at the scene where Thomas was allegedly murdered, according to records.  The Excelsior Springs man was charged with murder, armed criminal action, tampering with a motor vehicle, and knowingly burning.Reardon is facing similar charges and is expected to go before a jury in July.

Jennifer Saling

Jennifer Saling, 23, pleaded guilty in 2010 to second-degree murder.  She was sentenced to 18 years in the Department of Corrections.
