Missouri’s state auditor saw fit to redefine statements made Monday by Clay County in the midst of a petitioned audit of the county.
Clay County officials released a statement indicating that auditor, Nicole Galloway, had agreed to take no further action to obtain records for the audit requested by citizens of Clay County. Certain County officials questioned the scope of Galloway’s audit, and a stay of the subpoena was granted by a Cole County judge. Galloway labeled the County’s statements as “grossly inaccurate”, saying that the subpoena for records has not been withdrawn. The legal action was, instead, necessary to ensure that the case continues.
