Officials in Howard County have identified the Franklin man who reportedly took his own life following a 15-hour standoff on Friday. Authorities said Robert Davis, 45, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident unfolded shortly before midnight Thursday when officers were called to a domestic dispute at a home on County Road 342. Investigators said Davis allegedly assaulted his estranged wife. She was able to escape with non life-threatening injuries.  Davis then barricaded himself in the house and refused to surrender, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

The standoff ended around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
