Autopsy determines cause of death for Saline County inmate
SALINE COUNTY, Mo — An autopsy has determined the cause of an inmates death at Saline County Jail Thursday morning.
According to a news release by the Saline County Sheriff, Heidi Elfering, 48, was pronounced deceased at the facility just before noon Thursday by the County Coroner.
The preliminary results revealed the deceased suffered a hemorrhage of the brain stem due to a history of uncontrolled high blood pressure. The death is ruled a natural death and no foul play is suspected.
Elfering was taken into custody Wednesday during a court appearance for probation violation.
