Motorists have a few more hazards to watch out for starting over the next few weeks.  Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross speak with MoDOT Customer Relations Manager Melissa Black:

Melissa Black

Black said as students go back to school drivers need to be more aware of their presence.  Many schools and bus routes are located near state roads.  “As a driver, you have to expect that students may be walking or riding their bicycles to and from the school, or waiting for their bus at their stop,” said Black, “So we would just encourage everyone to watch for the school bus sign ahead, or just in general be prepared to slow down and stop.”  She said part of the responsibility for their safety falls on the students, who need to be aware of their surroundings and use common sense.  Black warned about the distraction that portable electronics provide.  More information is available at www.savemolives.com.
