CARROLLTON, Mo. – Carrollton fire crews were called to 1 West Washington Avenue at approximately 12:40 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 for a report of a fire inside Bank 21. Crews were on scene quickly and requested mutual aid be called in from Marshall and other communities.

That call for aid was then cancelled when local crews got the upper hand on the blaze.

KMZU’s Miles Carter was on the scene by 12:50 p.m. and reported seeing thick black smoke coming from the basement as crews worked to extinguish the flames and clear the building of the noxious vapors. Click to hear Carrollton Fire Department Chief Lonnie Sensenich speak with Miles.

This story is still developing and there is no word on a possible cause at this time. The fire is officially out.
