An accident that closed the Westbound lane of Highway 36, West of Cameron last night, caused serious injuries of a Bethany driver and passenger, and criminal charges for the driver. According to the Highway Patrol, Cally A. Stanton, 27, was Southbound on Route C and failed to stop at the stop sign at Highway 36. Stanton’s vehicle was hit in the passenger side by   Richard Brighten, 66, of Forest City Iowa. Stanton was transported to Mosaic Life Care and her passenger, Cathy Stanton, 60, was taken to Liberty Hospital.

The report alleges Stanton was in felony possession of a controlled substance-two counts, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failed to stop at a stop sign and felony assault in the 2nd degree.
