The second annual Bikers 4 Boomers event is being held in Lafayette County all day Saturday. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott talk with Spokesperson Judy Latty:

The event is a fundraiser for the Higginsville, Concordia, Odessa, and Lexington Senior Center. The idea came up two years ago.

“A third of our funding comes from fundraising. And we’re all from small communities, and you keep going to the same people and the same businesses, asking for donations,” said Laty, “And so we brainstormed, and came up with this idea of something that would benefit all four, that would be big enough that hopefully, instead of ten or twelve small fundraisers, we could have one big one.”

Registration starts at 7:30 Saturday morning, and the last bike leaves at 9:30. The last one should be in by 2:30. A whole hog roast begins at 1:30 on the Lafayette County Fairgrounds. Winners will be announced at 3:00, and a live auction begins at 4:00.
