LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo – With heavy boat traffic at Lake of the Ozarks this Labor Day weekend, mishaps become more frequent. Throughout the day Sunday, injuries due to violent wakes were reported by Highway Patrol water division.
The passenger of a pontoon boat was injured as she was tossed around a pontoon boat, when it was thrown by the wake of another vessel. An Iowa resident suffered a back injury after their vessel became airborne encountering rough waters. A St. Louis man was seriously injured after his tube hit a large wake and overturned.
Missouri lawmakers have recently considered “no-wake laws” for Lake of the Ozarks, citing an excessive number of injuries blamed on large wakes.
