Carroll County Sheriff Troy Hofstetter is reporting that law enforcement officials have found skeletal remains on the Missouri River.

The body was found near the Wakenda area Wednesday night.

The Sheriff’s Department has sent the body to Columbia for an autopsy to determine whether the remains are male or female.

They also hope to discover if any foul play was involved.

Highway Patrol troopers up-river have been notified and efforts are underway to determine the identity of the individual.

Sheriff Hofstetter will provide an update once the autopsy results have returned.
