WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. (AP) – Officials at western
Missouri’s Whiteman Air Force Base say they have found human
remains but have not yet linked the discovery to a missing airman
feared dead.
They disclosed the discovery on Friday afternoon but did not
release a name nor the location of the remains.
Eighteen-year-old Airman Luis Vazquez of Alliance, Neb., has
been missing from the base since he failed to report for duty
Monday.
Vazquez was last seen Sunday with fellow airman Kerby Barbe, who
drove Vazquez’s pickup truck to Texas and killed himself Tuesday in
the town of Blanco after a long standoff with law enforcement.
