SALINE COUNTY, Mo. — Authorities have positively identified a body recovered from the Missouri River near Malta Bend in March.
According to a news release from the Saline County Coroner’s Office, the body is that of Antonio D. Jimmerson, who law enforcement officials now say drowned in the Missouri River. Foul play is not suspected in Jimmerson’s death.
Identification of the body, which was first recovered from the Missouri River near Malta Bend in Saline County March 24, was hindered by severe decomposition and decay of the body, and took several weeks to process. DNA collected was credited in ID’ing the body.
Jimmerson was seen by a witness driving his vehicle into the Missouri River in Wyandotte County, Kan. in mid-October 2018.
The vehicle was found at the bottom of the river, however divers did not locate Jimmerson’s body.
Multiple area law enforcement agencies, including the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Saline County Sheriff’s Office and Saline County Coroner’s office contributed to the investigation.
