A Richmond resident will return to a Ray County courtroom Tuesday to find out if his bond is going to be reduced. The attorneys for Robert Aliff, 40, made the request at a hearing last week. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, and driving while revoked following a fatal crash in May 2011. Bruce Sodders, 59, was killed in that accident. A wrongful death suit filed by the Sodders family appears to have been settled. Details of the agreement have not been made public.
The motion for bond reduction will be taken up at 8:30 a.m. Aliff’s bond was set at $25,000, cash only in September. A preliminary hearing has also been scheduled in the case. It is tentatively set for Jan. 15.
