COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is searching for an unidentified male suspect who was reportedly involved in a home invasion this morning north of Columbia, Mo.

According to the release, deputies were dispatched to the 5900 block of Teresa Drive located in the Gregory Heights subdivision for a burglary report around 1:00 a.m. A 51-year-old man told deputies he was in his living room at about 1:00 a.m., when he heard his back door forced open and was confronted by a male holding a handgun. A scuffle ensued and the suspect fired one shot which did not strike anyone.

The suspect then reportedly fled the residence on foot heading west on Teresa Drive.

The male was treated for a cut by medics at the scene. The victim’s wife 45, and 18-year-old son were also at the residence but not injured. The suspect was described as approximately six feet tall and wearing a dark hoodie.
