Press Release from the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce

The 27th Annual Chautauqua in the Park will be held September 10-11, 2011 at Simpson Park in Chillicothe, Missouri.  This annual event, sponsored by the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce and the Chillicothe Area Arts Council, and presented by Hedrick Medical Center, has a wide variety of entertainment, activities, artists, crafts and food.

“We have booth spaces still available,” according to Lindy Chapman, Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.  Many different artists and crafters are already signed up to showcase and sell their creations.  Photography, jewelry, wood crafts, clothing, ceramics and many other types of fine arts and crafts are all represented throughout the festival.   Vendors come from throughout Missouri and the Midwest to sell their items at the Chautauqua.  The Traditional Arts area showcases the talents of spinners, weavers, broom makers and many others who take a craft back to its roots, and demonstrate at the festival.

“We have over 95 craft, food and children’s booths already in place, in addition to the wonderful Traditional Arts area demonstrators and vendors, but we always have room for more,” stated Chapman. “If you are interested in having a booth at this year’s Chautauqua, please contact the Chamber office as soon as possible.”

The Chillicothe Area Arts Council has planned a strong, diverse program of the entertainment throughout the two-day event.  A full schedule is planned for the Stage area, and musicians and groups will also be heard throughout the park.  There will also be many activities for kids during the festival, especially in the Children’s Area, including a petting zoo, face painting and inflatable games.  A wide variety of food will be available both in the food court and throughout the park on the trails.

Call the Chillicothe Area Chamber at 660-646-4050 to request a booth application or to reserve your space.  The application can also be found online at under Event Registration.
