UPDATE: 08/15/2018 8:44:57 a.m.- Only minor injuries were reported after a crash that closed the southbound lanes off Interstate 35 in Clay County yesterday.
According to the report issued by the Missouri Highway Patrol, three vehicles were involved in a rear end crash at the 21.4 mile marker just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The report says a tractor trailer operated by Howard Oats, 56, of Wisconsin, began to slow and jackknifed in the road. The semi slid into Robert Kiffe, 51, of Blaine, Minnessota and a vehicle driven by Kyla Warman, 16, of Kearney, struck the trailer of the semi.
Kiffe and Warman wre transported to North Kansas City Hospital by Kearney Fire. The southbound lanes of the interstate were tied up for several hours.
CLAY COUNTY, Mo. — A motor-vehicle crash has shutdown the southbound lanes of I-35 in Clay County and delays are expected.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 1:50 p.m., north of Liberty on Interstate 35, near the 21 mile marker. Delays are expected for the next few hours and drivers in the area should plan alternative routes. Number of parties involved and injuries cannot be confirmed at this time.
