UPDATE: – 6:30 p.m. – A fatal crash is still impacting traffic, according to Highway Patrol, near Odessa on I-70.

The incident was reported to authorities just after 1 p.m. today in the eastbound lanes, east of Odessa. A crash report says two semis were involved, and a passenger vehicle. The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Plattsburg resident, Steven Dehart, 63, slowed for traffic, and was rear-ended by a semi, driven by Bradenton, FL resident, Bryan Messenger, 30.

Dehart reported no injuries. Messenger was pronounced deceased after impact, around 1:43 p.m. The right, eastbound lane is currently closed, and causing delays past the 37B exit east of Odessa at the 40.6 mm.

ODESSA, MO – 4:14 p.m. – A fatal crash was reported to authorities just after 1 p.m. today on I-70 eastbound.

Highway Patrol confirmed the fatality. Witnesses say up to 2 transports may be involved, as well as a passenger vehicle. The eastbound lanes have been closed, however one lane may be back open. Traffic is still backed up in the EB lanes with traffic being diverted to the outer roads. Motorists are urged to find an alternate route. The crash is scheduled to be cleaned up by the 4 p.m. hour. The wreck is located past the 37B exit east of Odessa at the 40.6 mm.
