LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Gov. Jay Nixon will join University of Central Missouri President Dr. Chuck Ambrose, Lee’s Summit R-7 Superintendent Dr. David McGehee and other regional education and civic leaders in Lee’s Summit today for a groundbreaking for the Summit Technology Academy/Missouri Innovation Campus.
The new facility, scheduled to open in August 2017, is a partnership between UCM and the school district, and will be the home of the Innovation Campus launched as a way for Missouri students to earn affordable, fast-track degrees in high-demand fields. The Governor’s administration helped establish UCM’s Innovation Campus with a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant in 2012, and has since worked to expand the initiative across the state.
