UPDATE: 01/08/18, i:50 p.m. — The Missouri Highway Patrol says that the accident that caused a major backup Monday morning has been cleared and traffic is now flowing normally.

It was not known if anyone involved in the crash was injured, however two vehicles were involved and at least one burst into flames when the crash happened Monday morning. Further details will be provided as soon as they are available.

CLINTON COUNTY, Mo. — A crash on Interstate 35 in Clinton County had a big impact on traffic Monday morning.

KMZU News has confirmed that the crash happened at the 42 mile marker of Interstate 35 at Holt in the southbound lanes and involved at least two vehicles.

A spokesperson for the Highway Patrol said the the crash had closed both lanes and that traffic was backed up for miles.

However, traffic is moving again in the southbound lanes, albeit very slowly. In addition, traffic in the northbound lane was impacted due to extensive cleanup. It was not immediately clear if anyone involved in the crash was injured.

Drivers in the area should exercise caution and plan alternative routes if possible. Delays are expected for at least an hour.
