UPDATE:  5:43 p.m. — A suspect being sought by Lafayette County authorities and Highway Patrol may be in custody. The manhunt took place around the Corder area, potentially, between Higginsville and Corder.

According to reports, a stolen vehicle was crashed on Route AA. The Highway Patrol said officers took one person into custody as a result of the search, but no further details were available. Lafayette County officials also could not provide information.


LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. — KMZU News has confirmed that authorities in Lafayette County, including the Highway Patrol, are searching for a suspect near Corder.

A spokesperson for the Missouri Highway Patrol told KMZU News that authorities were actively engaged in a manhunt, but did not provide details about a suspect description and it is not clear what prompted the search.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that residents on Route AA in Lafayette County between Higginsville and Corder were being advised to lock their doors and stay inside their homes.

A source told KMZU News that authorities were searching for a man after a vehicle reported stolen was crashed on Route AA. Authorities were reportedly searching in a creek for a suspect wearing blue jeans and a white tee shirt.

Aircraft have also been reported over the area, reportedly aiding in the search. Details are still developing.
