UPDATE: 06/10/2019, 1:40 p.m. — The pilot of the plane died during the crash. He was the only person on the plane. The plane was heading to Johnson County Executive Airport, then changed the flight path to Butler Airport. The pilot was a man in his 70s. The aircraft crashed at 10:30 a.m. The plane was a Cessna C425. The cause of the crash is still unknown. 

BATES COUNTY, Mo. — KMZU News has confirmed reports of a plane crash in Bates County.

Initial reports suggest the plane was on route from Vero Beach, Fla. to Olathe, Kan. when it crashed into a grain bin in Butler, Mo.

The Bates County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed they are on the scene of the crash. Officials say the scene is secure and will be investigated by the FAA.

Injuries are not known at this time.
