UPDATE: 2:00 p.m.- Police say it’s possible the shooting on UCLA’s campus is a murder-suicide.   At a press conference, UCLA Police Chief James Herren confirmed that two people are dead.  He said it’s possible that one of those victims could be a shooter.  Police are still searching buildings on campus to make sure there are no additional victims.  The campus continues to be on lockdown as police secure the scene.  The shooting happened just before 10 a.m. this morning local time at an engineering building.

Police were telling news outlets the people were shot around 10 a.m. today. Police moved hundreds of officers to the Southern California campus and surrounding areas about 10:30 a.m. local time.

LAPD officers and SWAT teams are on the campus, moving from building to building looking for an active shooter or shooters.  The FBI is also on the scene.  The entire campus is on lockdown and students and staff are being told to shelter in place.

The “Daily Bruin” reports over Twitter that sources have told them the shooter is a white male about six-feet tall, wearing a black jacket and black pants.

The city of Los Angeles is being placed on tactical alert after the shooting.
