UPDATE 10/08/17 3:48 p.m. — The Chillicothe Police Department said in a post on their Facebook page that the incident had occurred at around 12:00 p.m. Sunday. Police described the incident as “an assault with a weapon . . . between two employees and one was injured.”

The investigation is currently ongoing. The McDonald’s in Chillicothe remains closed as law enforcement officers carry out their investigation.

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — KMZU News has received multiple reports of a stabbing at the McDonald’s in Chillicothe.


Reports indicate that the incident occurred just after 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Multiple sources told KMZU News that there was an increased law enforcement presence at the restaurant, including from the Chillicothe Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A spokesperson for the Chillicothe Police Department told KMZU News “I am not able to provide more information at this time,” when asked for comment regarding the incident.

It was not immediately clear if the perpetrator of the alleged assault was arrested. Multiple sources however, including one who was at the scene at the time of the stabbing, said that a disgruntled, fired employee had returned to the restaurant and stabbed the manager of the McDonald’s. The manager, who has not been identified, was reportedly then taken to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries. This has not been confirmed by law enforcement as of 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

A spokesperson for the Highway Patrol was not immediately available for comment Sunday. KMZU’s sources reported that the area around the McDonalds, located at 810 Business Highway 36 West in Chillicothe, had been blocked off and had a heightened law enforcement presence.
