CHARITON COUNTY, Mo. — KMZU News has confirmed reports of a motor vehicle crash on Highway 5 in Chariton County.

According to a spokesperson for the Missouri Highway Patrol, the crash occurred near the turnoff from Highway 5 for Lake Nehai at Route D around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

It was not immediately clear if anyone involved in the crash was injured, however both lanes of the roadway are currently blocked and traffic is being rerouted. The Highway Patrol, Chariton County sheriff’s deputies and EMS were reportedly at the scene.

Reports indicate that a life flight helicopter has been called to the area, however those reports have not been confirmed at this time.
