UPDATE: 8 p.m. – Formal charges have been filed against a man taken into custody this morning in Moberly after reports of assault. Police responded to the 400 block of McKinley Avenue, taking into custody Matthew Alan Eads, 35. He is charged with assault and armed criminal action. The suspect initially refused to surrender to police. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after 11:00 a.m.
MOBERLY, Mo. — The Moberly Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol is on the scene this morning to investigate an assault.
According to a news release from the Moberly Police Department, officers responded to the 400 block of McKinley Street in Moberly after reports of assault. When they arrived, the suspect refused to come out of the residence.
The suspect is possibly armed, but the victim has not been injured.
A negotiator from the Missouri State Highway Patrol is on scene to help resolve the situation. The names of the suspect or victim has not been released at this time.
