UPDATE: 8:30 p.m. – A crash Friday afternoon injured nine of the ten persons involved.
According to Highway Patrol, the rear-end accident happened just before 4 p.m. as a vehicle was stopped in the westbound lanes of I-70 west of Higginsville at the 46 mile marker. A passenger in the rear-most vehicle, Megan Howard, 34, of Hesston, Kansas received moderate injuries. She was taken to Centerpoint Hospital. Eight other injuries were described as minor, sustained by residents of Kansas, and of the St. Louis area.
The location of the crash was near the scene of ongoing construction work that was listed on modot to cause possible delays.
MAYVIEW, MO – Information regarding a reported vehicle accident was submitted just after 4 p.m. today.
The crash was said to be affecting traffic in the westbound lanes, west of Higginsville. Missouri Highway Patrol confirmed the crash, saying responders were on scene. No information is being provided on persons involved, or extent of possible injuries. Motorists should expect delays in the westbound lanes near Higginsville with only one lane currently being open to traffic. There is also ongoing construction in the same area.
