UPDATE: (11/30/16, 2:30 a.m.) – Representatives of Texas based, Enterprise Products Partners, say;”there is no current risk to people or property,” from a pipeline explosion Tuesday evening. The ruptured pipeline exploded into flames around 6:30 last night in an isolated area identified as the 9600 block of Mellen bridge Road near Smithville. Platte County officials said several fire departments responding to the fire North of KCI Airport, were obstructed by sightseers on the narrow roads in the area. The pipeline, which carried ethane and propane, was sealed off and put out by 8:00 Tuesday night. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
KCI AIRPORT, Mo Eyewitnesses have reported seeing flames and smoke in the region of KCI airport in Kansas City.
According to some reports an explosion was due to a ruptured pipeline north of the airport.
No injuries have yet been reported.
