Area BBQ enthusists, rejoice. The first ever Buckner BBQ competition is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Pounds talk with event organizer Tonia Richardson:
“We will accept entries up until the 14th. Entry fees will be $50 plus $15 for use of electricity,” Richardson said. “Next year we will be sanctioned so the entry fee will increase sizably to cover costs.”
There will also be local music for entertainment. There are four categories for contestants to enter: chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket.
“It’s going to be a great time. We will be selling food and I know one team will be selling their BBQ too,” stated Richardson. “It’s just going to be a good time with the music and everyone getting together and just talking.”
The events are scheduled to begin at 7:00 Friday evening and will continue throughout the night. Entries in the competition will be judged Saturday afternoon with prizes given out at 2:00 P.M.
