Offspring from the California dairy cow discovered to have bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or BSE has been located and tested negative for the brain wasting disease.

After tracking the animal to another state, it was euthanized, and brain samples were sent to the national laboratory for review.

It was part of the ongoing investigation into the discovery BSE in a 10-year-old cow that was euthanized in mid-April.  The Tulane County dairy where the cow was located remains under quarantine, along with another facility associated with it.

Officials are investigating the calf ranch where the diseased cow was raised before being sold into dairy production.
