RAY COUNTY, Mo. — A Camden man charged with 28 felony counts of child abuse or neglect in Ray County was arraigned in circuit court Wednesday morning.
Mario A. Barreto, 29 waived the formal reading of charges and entered a not guilty plea.
A protection order was issued per a stipulation agreed upon by the prosecuting and defense attorneys, according to court records.
Barreto and his girlfriend, 25-year-old Melissa Holloway, of Richmond were charged in February 2018 for abusing a 9-year-old girl who lived with Barreto. Barreto allegedly extensively abused the young girl and even bit off part of one of her fingers, according to a probable cause statement.
A criminal setting hearing was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on November the 7.
