After inquiries were made with the media relations division for the Missouri Department of Corrections, KMZU has learned that the Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron was on lock-down for almost a week.

According to David Owen, Communications Director, the facility was put on lock-down December 2nd, following two assaults that occurred over a three day period.

Mr. Owen stated that a lock-down is for the protection of inmates and facility personnel. There were no serious injuries reported in the assaults and the identities of those involved were not divulged.

Mr. Owen stated DOC facilities do not comment during an active investigation and no other details were available at this time.

The staff began to slowly lift the lock down Monday and is restoring offender privileges.
