DAVIESS COUNTY, Mo. – An Independence driver crashed while avoiding an animal in the road in Daviess County Saturday night.

The Missouri Highway Patrol was sent to southbound Interstate 35, South of the Civil Bend Exit, around 9:22 last night. The online report says Stanley Thresher, 66, traveled off the right side of the highway and struck a tree.

A passenger in his vehicle, Cynthia Ayres, 60, of Raytown was transported to Cameron Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
