Gingerich Brothers

UPDATE: 9:08 a.m.- The hearing for two Bogard residents went quickly this morning when both Gingerich men, one after the other, went before the Honorable Judge Kevin Walden. During proceedings, their common attorney motioned for a reduction in bond to $5,000 with 10% allowed. That motion was denied in both cases and the hearings were continued. Leander and Melvin will report again on the 15th of April at 9 a.m.

Court hearings have been set for 9:00 a.m. this morning, for two members of the Amish Community in Carroll County. According to the probable cause statements, Leander Gingerich, 25, of Bogard was charged with Statutory Rape in the First Degree and two counts of Child Molestation in the First Degree, after a now thirteen year old member of their community reported she was molested on three occasions by Leander, between early March 2013 and late summer of 2014. Melvin Gingerich, 29, of Carrollton was charged a few days later, for Statutory Rape in the First Degree of a now fifteen year old member of their community in the summer of 2013. KMZU’s Ashley Johnson is scheduled to attend today’s arraignment and will file an updated report on the progress of these cases.
