Thousands of people are expected line the streets of downtown Carrollton for a pair of annual events and the Chamber of Commerce is asking local businesses to participate in September’s main event. Click to hear KMZU’s Chris Clift talk with Executive Director of the Carrollton Chamber of Commerce Sharon Metz:
The Carrollton Chamber of Commerce announced earlier this month that Band Day and the Fall Festival will combine for one weekend of bands, booths, and Trojan football. According to Metz, area merchants can take advantage of the large crowds.
“It’s going to be a big weekend for Carrollton,” Metz said. “Chamber or non-chamber members are all invited to participate. They’re compiling a list of businesses that are going to welcome the alumni for the weekend. The list will be given to visitors on Friday night. We want the alumni to feel welcome, but we also want them to enter the businesses in our town, whether it is restaurants or retail. Even churches have been asked to participate.”
This is the first year the two events have been combined. “Band Day has been the cornerstone of celebration in Carrollton for 40 years. There are still booths still available and we have about 70 bands signed up,” Metz added
The dual event kicks off with the Trojan’s home game against the Westran Hornets on September 23. Both Band Day and the Fall Festival are going to be held on the 24th.
Businesses wanting to participate should contact the Chamber office at (660) 542-0922 or email.
