The first step toward a “Friends of the Library” group will be taken in Carrollton Wednesday morning. Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Wade speak with Director Sue Lightfoot:
The idea started with a group of three women who approached Lightfoot at different times. “They said, ‘Hey! Do you think the library would benefit from having a friends group?’ And I said, ‘Yes! I would love to have that!’ So from those conversations we have actually formed an organizational meeting in order to see how many people would be willing and able to be a Friend of the Library,” said Lightfoot.
Part of Wednesday’s initial meeting is to work on the organization’s goals and missions. “And then for me to state the library’s needs. Currently, what’s needed right now, and what might be long-range plans. So basically I need somebody from every walk of life, every age, every gender. I just need everybody’s experiences so we can group those together and have a good, solid Friends Group,” said Lightfoot.
Any interested parties are encouraged to attend the meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the basement of the Carrollton Public Library.
