ATLANTA, Ga. — The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is investigating a link between Chronic Wasting Disease in deer and the possibility of transmission to humans.

While there are no reported cases of CWD in humans, researchers have noted that monkeys which consumed contaminated deer meat contracted the deadly disease.

CWD has no treatment and is 100 percent deadly.

A number of cases have been reported in nearly three dozen Missouri counties.

Among counties affected in the KMZU listening area are Adair, Grundy, Linn, Macon, Mercer, Moniteau and Sullivan.
