RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. — A Clifton Hill resident was arrested and faces felony accusations in Randolph County on Wednesday.

According to a probable cause statement, Cody O. Downing, 27, was seen by law enforcement traveling at a high rate of speed. As police tried to initiate a traffic stop, Downing allegedly failed to yield while traveling over 80 mph.

During the pursuit, both vehicles traveled off the roadway at the intersection of County Road 2570 and 2580.

The deputy in chase of Downing injured his head in the accident while Downing received minor injuries.

After the accident, police smelled the odor of marijuana. Officers found a small marijuana cigarette in the vehicle. Downing was also found to be a previously convicted felon.

Downing is formally charged with felony DWI leading to physical injury to emergency personnel and felony unlawful possession of a firearm.

Downing is currently in custody at Randolph County Jail on $15,000 bond.
