CHARITON COUNTY, MO – A warrant was listed as served Wednesday in Chariton County court records to a Mendon man charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Law enforcement responded Friday, May 31, for a water rescue near Triplett, involving James Pleasant, 45, of Mendon, and Alicia Meyer, 33. Emergency responders were able to rescue Pleasant after his vehicle was driven around a barricade and carried off the roadway by flood waters. Meyer, reportedly confined to a wheelchair, was not able to escape from the vehicle.
Pleasant is charged with a single count of involuntary manslaughter with bond set at $50,000. Court dates are pending.
