KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs are a step closer to a Superbowl appearance.

The defense stepped up to blunt the powerful Indianapolis Colts offense. The Colts played most of the first half without an offensive first down. The only first half score by Indy was a blocked punt that they recovered in the endzone. The only other scoring opportunity fizzled when Adam Viniteri bounced a field goal try off the left upright as the half ran out. The Chiefs offense ran rampant over the hapless Colts for 31 to 13 victory at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Charges and Patriots play at noon Sunday.
