RAY COUNTY, Mo. – Melissa Ann Holloway, 27, of Camden, was arraigned yesterday morning, June 6, on charges related to child abuse in Ray County.
Holloway appeared before Circuit Judge Kevin Walden at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, to face 22 counts of felony abuse or neglect of a child, one count of hindering prosecution of a felony and a felony count of tampering with a witness in a felony. Holloway waived the reading of the charges and entered a not guilty plea.
She is accused along with her boyfriend, Mario Barreto, of relentlessly beating and torturing a young girl placed in their care. Holloway allegedly did nothing to stop the extensive abuse.
The court placed a criminal setting and motion for bond reduction on the docket at 8:30 a.m. on July 11.
