COLUMBIA, Mo. – A bus driver has lost his job after a child was left on a bus in Columbia on Wednesday.

The six year old fell asleep on the way to Benton Elementary and woke up in the parking lot of a local restaurant. The child walked to a residence that looked like her uncle’s house and knocked on the door. A resident took the child in and called the school district, who sent a supervisor to take her to school.

Student Transportation of America discharged the driver for failing to walk through the bus after the children were dropped off at school.
